John J.  Morrison
John J. Morrison, 88, of Enfield, entered into eternal rest Monday April 17, 2017 at Suffield House. John was born March 19, 1929 in Royal Oaks, MI and was the son of the late Thomas and Lillian Morrison. He attended St Joseph's School and was a graduate of Enfield High School, Class of 1946. John was employed by the former Northeast Utilities for over 31 years before retiring in 1989. He was active in local and state politics for many years. He was a State Representative for the 58th District in Enfield serving from 1973 to 1981 and was chairman of the legislative's bonding sub-committee for 6 years. John also served on the Enfield Town Council from 1967 to 1971 and was vice chairman of the Enfield Housing Authority. He was a former union president of Local #1373 I.B.E.W. and a member of the Enfield Democratic Town Committee for over 20 years. Following his retirement John enjoyed traveling throughout the USA and cruising the oceans of the World. John was predeceased by his wife Gertrude (Cosby) Morrison who died in 1986. He is survived by his children, John S. Morrison and his wife Josephine of Suffield, Susan Rendock and her husband John, Ellen Morrison and Kathleen Ferriera and her husband Richard all of Enfield and Trudy Schrater and her husband Robert of Salem, MA, six grandchildren, Brian Bennett, Kirsten Schuster, April Trombly and her husband Mike, Sean Morrison, Michael and Kelly Ferriera, a great granddaughter, Penny Trombly and a brother Donald Morrison of PA. Family and friends will gather Saturday April 22, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road for funeral procession to St. Patrick's Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's King Street Cemetery. His family will receive relative and friends at the funeral home Friday 5-8 p.m. Memorial donations in John's name may be made to the Enfield Community Ambulance Fund, 1296 Enfield Street, Enfield, CT 06083-1152.
