Mitchell J. "Mitch"  Raffia
Mitchell J. "Mitch" Raffia,(98), of Enfield, beloved husband of Mary (Michko) Raffia for 69 years, entered into eternal peace Thursday, May 25, 2017 at the Suffield House. Born in Suffield, Mitch was the son of the late George and Katherine (Solak) Raffia. He lived in Enfield all of his life and was a parishioner of St. Bernard Church. He was an Army WW II Veteran who served honorably in the Pacific Theater. He was retired from Hamilton Standard after 37 years, and later operated Raffia Farms Inc. and George Raffia & Sons Inc. He was a true Tobacco farmer and loved working on the family farm. He enjoyed dancing with his favorite partner and true love Mary. Besides his wife, Mitch is survived by two sons, Paul Raffia and Gary Raffia and his wife Mary Jane all of Enfield; a sister, Ella Flaherty of Enfield; three grandchildren, Michelle Priolo and her husband Anthony of Colchester, Sara Raffia of Enfield, Kristen Nolan and her husband Bryan of Enfield; five great grandchildren, Samantha and A.J. Priolo, Mackenzie and Blake Nolan, and Zachary Zannoni. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. Mitch was predeceased by three brothers, Michael, Henry, and Eli Raffia, and two sisters, Mary Pohorylo and Eva Santanella. Mitch's family especially thanks the staff at Johnson Memorial Medical Center and the staff at Suffield House for the exceptional care they provided, and Bobby Myers, who was Mitch's right-hand man for many years. Visitation hours will be held from 4-7 p.m. Monday, May 29, 2017 at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield. Family and friends may gather at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday May 30, 2017 at Leete-Stevens for a procession to St. Bernard Church for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Committal will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery.
